John O'Shea to skipper Republic of Ireland in his final international appearance

maxbet Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill has confirmed veteran defender John O'Shea will captain his country in his final international appearance against the USA. O'Neill named a 40-man provisional squad for the friendly games against Celtic on May 20, a testimonial for Bhoys captain Scott Brown, before a trip to Paris against France on May 28 and the fixture with the USA in Dublin on June 2.

Sunderland defender O'Shea, 37, has won 117 caps is joined in an expanded squad by Shamrock Rovers striker Graham Burke, while Peterborough goalkeeper Conor O'Malley, Millwall midfielder Shaun Williams and Preston forward Callum Robinson also receive first senior call-ups. The three friendly games act as the final preparation ahead of the UEFA Nations League opener away to Wales on September 6. maxbet

O'Neill has also made space in his squad for Matt Doherty (Wolves), Declan Rice (West Ham) and Scott Hogan (Aston Villa) who made their debuts in the recent friendly against Turkey. Burke is the latest player from the League of Ireland to be called up to the squad, following on from the previous call ups for the Dundalk trio of Andy Boyle, Daryl Horgan and Gary Rogers. maxbet

Carlo Ancelotti in talks with Napoli to replace manager Maurizio Sarri

wwwpic5678 Carlo Ancelotti has held talks with Napoli's president in Rome about becoming their new manager, according to Sky in Italy. The former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich boss looks set to succeed Maurizio Sarri, who hinted on Sunday he was leaving the club.

"Everything in life ends and it is better to finish things after writing a beautiful story," Sarri said after Napoli's 2-1 win over Crotone, which saw them end the season with 91 points, four behind Serie A champions Juventus. Sarri reportedly met with representatives of Zenit St Petersburg last week while Chelsea have been also linked with the 59-year-old. wwwpic5678

Ancelotti has been out of management since he was sacked by Bayern last September, while his last job in Italian football was with AC Milan, who he left in 2009 to become Chelsea boss. Napoli have twice finished as runners-up to Juventus in the past three seasons. Their last league title success was in 1990. wwwpic5678
